THINK TANKS

CONNECT | CONSULT | EMPLOY SKILLS | AUGMENT IDEAS

  • 2-3 day "deep dive" sessions, each focused on one major global or community challenge where Advanced Leaders might fill a gap.
  • Fellows will contribute ideas based on their experience & knowledge for immediate solution-seeking with major figures in the field under discussion and with affected constituencies
  • Faculty-facilitated problem-solving discussions with useful frameworks and tools

COURSE AUDITING

ENLARGE | ENRICH | REVISIT | GET UPDATED | FIND NEW IDEAS & TOOLS

  • Fellows can audit any course in the University, with instructor's permission
  • Courses can be in fields relevant to Fellows' projects or enriching ideas
  • Choices can range widely-from humanities to science, professional schools to area studies


STUDY GROUPS

MENTOR | TEACH/LEAD | CONNECT | ORGANIZE | RECRUIT

  • Fellows can lead a study group of students (doctoral, masters, or undergraduate )
  • Fellows can teach items of his/her interest or use study groups to research Fellows' next-stage work
  • Students can be potential resources for developing and implementing Fellows' future projects

 

FIELD IMMERSION

TRAVEL | EXPLORE | NETWORK | GAIN GROUND EXPERIENCE | OPEN NEW PERSPECTIVES

  • Faculty-led trip for Fellows & spouses/partners
  • 4-6 day travel to see needs, make connections, meet officials, follow up on Think Tanks, find opportunities for service
  • Locations will be selected based on Think Tank content; the 2009 trip included education and the environment in Brazil; community health in New Orleans


INDEPENDENT PLAN DEVELOPMENT

REFLECT | RESEARCH | CREATE | REFINE | PLAN | WRITE | COMMIT

  • Fellows will develop their next-step plan or intervention, with access to Harvard intellectual resources
  • Faculty will be available for input and collaboration
  • Some Fellows might wish to work together or in parallel


FELLOWS' AMENITIES

Support Commensurate with Fellows' Status and Stage of Life

  • Offices and office support for Fellows
  • Provision for spouses/partners to enroll, with all program privileges; guest opportunities for other spouses/partners
  • Special invitations to other Harvard events
