Miriam May, Managing Director

Prior to coming to Harvard Miriam served as Executive Director of the Massachusetts Affiliate of Susan G. Komen for the Cure. Her extensive work with donors, volunteers, grantees and partners afforded the organization increased resources dedicated to the mission, as well as awareness of the disease. Her efforts have resulted in more revenue for the Massachusetts Affiliate, and the development of a variety of new initiatives including a landmark State of Breast Cancer in the Commonwealth Conference.

Ms. May has in-depth experience in consulting and marketing management within the nonprofit and the private sectors. As the founder of SMART Consulting her clients included Oxfam America, Hadassah, United Jewish Communities, Lifespan, United Way of America, Fleet Bank, American Express, Citizen's Bank and smaller institutions.

Ms. May has served as Senior Vice President of United Way of Southeastern New England, and as a Vice President at Citibank directing many new marketing initiatives. She was also a Principal Consultant with Charter Associates, a World Bank consultant to the Ministry of Labor of Brazil, and an Area Advisor for Latin America and the Caribbean for the US Department of Labor.

Ms. May has an MBA from the Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania and a BS in Labor Relations and Organizational Development from Cornell University. She has served on a variety of local and national not-for-profit boards. She is married to Professor Shaye J.D. Cohen and they have four children.



Rachel Dyer, Program Coordinator

Rachel Dyer is a graduate of Wilkes University, magna cum laude, in Wilkes-Barre, PA.  She holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Theatre Arts and is currently the Advanced Leadership Initiative's Program Coordinator.
