Valerie Denomy, Managing Director
Valerie Denomy, Managing Director of the Advanced Leadership Initiative, serves as the senior staff role connecting with internal and external constituencies and leading the staff in the execution of key responsibilities.
Valerie most recently served as the Associate Dean (Chief Operating Officer) at the Babson College Graduate School of Business, responsible for financial and operational performance. She held a variety of positions over thirteen years at Boston University beginning in 1996 and lastly as the Executive Director of Finance and Operations at the School of Dental Medicine. She has experience in financial management, human resources, facility planning and construction, community partnerships and international program development.
Valerie is a graduate of Simmons College and Boston University with a B.A. and M.S. respectively. She has been a member of the Graduate Management Admission Council, (GMAC), European Foundation for Management Development (EFMD), Global Business Network (GBSN), and American Dental Education Association (ADEA).
John Kendzior, Fellowship Director
John Kendzior, Fellowship Director of the Advanced Leadership Initiative, is responsible for managing relationships with national and international institutions in order to identify and engage a global network of potential Fellowship candidates. Prior to coming to Advanced Leadership, John held a variety of recruitment positions at Harvard, with a focus on building a diverse and inclusive workforce. Before joining Harvard, John was an Executive Search Consultant with Fleet Financial Group and a Human Resources Officer at First Chicago Corporation. He has recruited talent nationally into professional assignments and has managed college and MBA recruitment programs.
John earned an MBA in Labor Economics from the University of Chicago Graduate School of Business, and graduated Phi Beta Kappa from the College of the University of Chicago. He is a member of the MetroNorth Regional Employment Board.
Michael Perry, Communications Manager
Michael Perry, Communications Manager for the Advanced Leadership Initiative, is responsible for supporting the development and delivery of all ALI outreach activities, including tactical communications and targeted marketing campaigns.
Prior to joining ALI, Michael worked in communications at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology for an invention recognition and educational outreach program. Michael has held communications and marketing positions in health care technology, architecture and design.
Michael has a B.A. in Public Communication from American University.
Sarah Bernheim, Program Coordinator
Sarah Bernheim, Program Coordinator at the Advanced Leadership Initiative, is responsible for the successful delivery of the Advanced Leadership Program. Sarah works directly with the AL Fellows and Partners, ensuring they are integrated seamlessly into the University community. She manages the pre-matriculation process, course auditing across the professional schools, and the AL Core Course program.
Prior to ALI, Sarah worked for a health care nonprofit that specializes in the scientific approach to managing patient flow in hospitals.
Sarah graduated with a B.A. from Bowdoin College, and is working to pursue a Master’s in General Management at Harvard.
Kyra Tobin, Program Coordinator
Kyra Tobin, Program Coordinator for the Advanced Leadership Initiative, is responsible for organizing and executing event logistics for the Intro to Harvard, COAL, Think Tanks, Cross Cohort Exchange and other program components.
Prior to ALI, Kyra worked for a medical center coordinating outreach programs and health initiatives. She has experience in planning and managing events large and small in both campus and corporate atmospheres.
Kyra has a B.A. in Psychology and Philosophy from Hobart and William Smith Colleges.
