Akhil Gupta is the founder and director of Universal Enlightenment & Flourishing (UEF), a nonprofit he conceptualized during his time at ALI, which is focused on research and the dissemination of ideas on human flourishing and religious literacy. He earlier served as senior managing director at Blackstone, the largest alternative investment firm globally, and previously held leadership positions at Reliance Industries and Hindustan Unilever.
Akhil serves on the Dean’s Leadership Council at the Harvard Divinity School, on the advisory board of Harvard University’s Human Flourishing Project, and is a past member of the advisory council of the Graduate School of Business at Stanford University. He also serves on the boards of over a dozen companies in India.
A member of the 2015 ALI Cohort and a 2016 ALI Senior Fellow, Akhil is returning to Harvard to explore timeless philosophical and ethical traditions, as well as the latest findings in the social and physical sciences, to further UEF’s mission enhancing human flourishing and spirituality for the benefit of greater happiness, fulfillment, and mutual understanding.
