Leonardo Martinez Flores
2023 ALI Partner

Leonardo Martinez Flores brings to ALI more than 40 years of combined working experience in academic fields, the public sector, and nonprofit organizations, focusing mainly on economic, urban development, and environmental issues. Leonardo has been a member of the board and expert advisor for several councils and technical sustainability committees. In 1994 he received the National Award in Economics from the president of Mexico, and in 2016 he published the book Introduction to Urban Ecosystems, as an introductory textbook for graduate courses.

His longtime interest in understanding how complex systems work led him to conceive in 2009 the Mexico City Metropolitan Area Clean Air Program; the effort was recognized in 2013 with the C40 & Siemens Climate Leadership Award.

Leonardo joins his wife, Elena Estavillo, as an Advanced Leadership Initiative Partner.
