A message from Meredith

It is my pleasure to serve as ALI’s Faculty Chair after 10 years of remarkable leadership by Rosabeth Moss Kanter. It was the vision of ALI’s founders to create a platform for training and organizing a global network of exceptional leaders at the top of their careers who could address some of the world's most complex and important problems

Creating this global leadership force begins with ALI’s Fellowship year.

A year in the Advanced Leadership Initiative is an opportunity unlike any other for senior leaders ready to turn their focus to social impact. Fellows identify a project, learn what it takes to lead change across sectors, and develop new skills with a diverse cohort of similarly motivated and experienced leaders. ALI delivers custom programming and a rigorous curriculum, with opportunities to audit select courses, and attend the panoply of symposia, lectures, and events across the university.

Following the fellowship year, these leaders join a committed network of individuals dedicated to social impact. Today, that network of past ALI Fellows and Partners is 400 strong, and their work impacts individuals and communities around the world.

ALI Fellows and Partners are innovating to address challenges in education, nutrition, economic development, climate, democratic institutions, and women’s empowerment, among other critical areas ripe for social change. Some are starting new ventures, some are stepping into key operating roles in existing organizations, and some are serving as advocates and connectors for broader movements, but all are committed to making the world a better place.

After 10 years, the Advanced Leadership Initiative has established an entirely new stage of higher education, but more importantly, it has become a force for good in our society. There is much to celebrate in ALI’s first decade and much to look forward to in the future.
