John Carroll brings to ALI senior legal expertise from his roles as partner in the international law firms Skadden Arps Slate Meagher & Flom and Clifford Chance; at Clifford Chance, he was partner-in-charge of the Americas and a member of the firm’s global executive committee. Earlier, as assistant U.S. attorney for the Southern District of New York, he served as chief of the Securities and Commodities Task Force.
John is the president of The Legal Aid Society, the largest, most influential social justice law firm in New York City, where he works with the Society’s senior management on operational issues, finance and development, diversity and culture, and recruiting the organization’s next generation of leaders.
