Michele Klein
2025 ALI Fellow

Michele Klein brings to ALI expertise on global migration policy and refugee protection. For the past 25 years she held leadership roles at the International Organization for Migration (IOM), the migration agency of the United Nations, assisting governments worldwide on topics related to migration policy. Most recently Michele led IOM’s work in Central and North America and the Caribbean, and previously established a new policy hub in the agency’s Office of the Director General, led the agency’s efforts on the development of the Global Compact for Safe, Orderly and Regular Migration, and served as IOM’s representative to the U.N. in New York. Prior to IOM, she was the principal refugee and migration lawyer for the U.S. State Department.
